LD Debaters?

Any LDers here in WVT?

I've done like three touniments so far, and I only won like 2 rounds. And if you don't know what LD is, please feel free to ask. I will kindly explain.

LD, or Lincon Douglass debate has one person against another person. No teams, just balls and glory

So when you do this sort of thing?

I do this usually on Fridays on a schedualed "speech" touriment. I actually just got back from one...

And guess what?

I brought home the Bronze to WVT!

Explain the tournoments to me...I am slightly intrigued.

Ok, here's how it's set up where im at Wolfie. I'll use ur name, Trey, Carlton, and me for an example.

You first find out what your school code. Mine and Carlton's school number is 45 and yours and Trey's is 47. Then you find out what your letter is. Like it'll show up like this.

Wolfie 47A
Trey 47B
Carlton 45A
Crowley 45B

Then you look to the touriment postings. Usually they are divided into two seprared "mini rounds" Like for example:

Flight A
45B 47A

Flight B
45A 47B

Now, your still in round one, except your in Flight A, and your going up against me. Flight B, which Carlton and Trey are in, is still Round one, but they wait until Flight A is finished before they start. Now, the postion of the names is also important. Like let's take Flight A.

Now, since I am on the left side of the sheet, I am debating the AFF, or the Affimative side. Since you are on the right side, your on the NEG, or Negative side. What does that mean? Well, that is another can of worms in it of itself.

AFF or Affirmative supports the resolution, while the NEG, or Negative, does not. What is a resolution? It is the topic that you will be debating in that round. Everyone has the same topic, and your given your topic ahead of time. You change topic every two months, so you must prepare a case after two months.

Now a resolution will look something like this:

"Econimic Sactions Ought Not Be Used To Achieve Forigen Policy Objectives"

You must researse and have you stuff ready before you debate.

That in a nutshell is a LD Debate in a nutshell. I've only scratched the surface on this, so if you want me to go more indepth, I will be glad to do so.

So basically this is high school debate. I used to do that sort of thing. I was pretty damn good at Original Oratory (persuasive) and Informative. I also dabbled in randomonics!

Second in HI and first in champs in HD

Never got less that 1st in my OO. Never got less than 2nd in anything else.

I think I have it on my computor...I know I saved my OO speach somewhere. It was about why Pro Wrestling fans should not be thought of as dumb.

I never did a debate but I use to be good at persuasive & Informative speeches i did one of "Wrestling: Scripted not fake" "Violent Video Games: Scapegoat for bad parenting" "College Athletes should not be paid to play". Those were fun the speeches itself were fun the research never is.

Who is the best NCW Champion of all time?

I will take the positive side. And you all can go to hell because I am the greatest. But seriously it would be fun to have a mini fourum debate.
