Default Mr. Crowley: Fighter In The Making. Day 2 & 3: Grappling and Sparing.

Hey there guys. Sorry about Day 2 being posted on Day 3. Figured since nothing really exciting happened, so I thought I'd combined yesterday and today's events. I'll try to format here.

Before I dive into the whole shabang, I think I should give you names because I'm horrible with names, and I just got the names fresh in my mind. Master Courtney is the head teacher at the place. Under him is Becky. Another notable black belt is David. He showed me the ropes on the first day, and continues to be helpful. And I also have two friends that are also in training, one as new as me. Shane (2nd level of Black Belt) and Ryan(Same as me). Now, we dive into Day 2.

When I walked into the building on Day Two, the thing that was in the back of my mind was "Please God, let me not throw up." Luckily, I was more than prepared. I skipped lunch, so all was well on that situation. It was here that I saw Ryan and Shane, two school friends of mine. Ryan was on his second day like myself, and Shane had been there for a while. Shane is a Senior like me, and Ryan had just graduated. So, when class started, I had prepared for the worse...but no. We went into learning combinations, punches, kicks, and the like. After that, we went into "self-defence" techinques, which I will spare you the details on that. It was after we learned to do summersaults and get into fighting stance we went into grappling.

Now, the higher ranks did sparing and grappling. I just did grappling I went up against a red belt. Once he said to begin, I spaced out. I had him on the grown, and I had the dominate posture on him. In short...I pwned his ass. I think that master Courtney was quite impressed. It felt good in a weird sort of way being the agressor.

Now Day Three. I was sore from that day, because of me not being used to the strenious workout regime I've been putting myself on. However, after resting on Wed., I was still sore, but not to the point where I was stiff. I was able to do the things that I could do. Today, David went over some of the basics of grappling...which would have came in handy on Day 2, but nevertheless, the basics is where everyone starts correct? Anyways, after going over some of the basic stuff (Like move with the person your grappling. If he's pushing, your pulling, ect.) class started. We did some jumping jacks, which scared me, but then we went into kick and punch combo stuff. After that, we did more self defense stuff. Once again, I'll spare you those details. Then after that, we started the positions that we must learn in order to move up in ranking. Like when I testing, if I did everything right, I would move up to yellow belt. So, anyways, then we took a few min. break, and today...I started sparing.

Now, we didn't do "full contact" fighting. Today was a light spar. We also use the sparing equiptment. Now, on the first two days, I didn't spar, but today, Master Courtney must have thought I was ready, because he put me up against a brown belt. Once we bowed to each other...I was in the zone. I threw some jabs, then I hit him with a two punch-front kick combo. Now, from watching him for two days, I saw that he favored kicking. So, I watched him real close, blocking any attempt at kicking. After the spar, I felt really good, because he really didn't land any blows on me. After sparing, class ended.

Now, at the end of class, there's certain things that we got to say. I went up to Master Courtney, and see if he had the paperwork. He said that he didn't, right when my step-mom walked up. She introduced herself, and she started to say something about my little brother.
"He's got a lot of fire in him doesn't he?"
It was here that Master Courtney patted me on the back.
"Yeah, he does too, but he also knows when to unleash it."
I was pumped. I channeled my inner Icon, and did a "YEEEEES!" on the inside, and when I got to my room, I did a "Yes cartwheel"
All in all, the last two days have been a success to me. I got three days off, then I start all over again on Monday. But right now, I'm mainly focusing on my punches, and building my strength.
